Day of Saint John of Jerusalem celebration by the KMFAP Grand Priory of Benin

On the 23rd January 2024, the Grand Priory of Benin of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (KMFAP) hosted a grand reception on the occasion of the Day of Saint John of Jerusalem (our patron saint, aka Saint John the Merciful). The knights of the Grand Priory and their wives celebrated the National Day with a gala dinner, to which the Beninese authorities and officials as well as the diplomatic corps accredited to Benin were also invited.

Before the gala, the guests were treated to the entry procession of the Knights of Malta, the playing of the national anthems of Benin and KMFAP, and also the presentation on KMFAP and its related organisations (FEMERAID International, Malta Cross International, Pro-deo State University, Sovereign Order of Cyprus – Knights of Sword and Silence) as well as its partner organisations (IBSSA – International Bodyguard and Security Services Association, and the Lazarus Union).

Sir Florentin Tchaou, Grand Prior of Benin took the opportunity to present on behalf of HMEH Prince José Cosmelli, Grand Master and Head of the State a TARI coin (currency of the Knights of Malta) to Doctor Aristide Talon, Health Advisor and elder brother of the President of Benin, for his remarkable commitment in the development of the KMFAP’s humanitarian activities in the Republic of Benin.

To the great satisfaction of the guests, a message from Sir Patrick Adeye on the story of John the Merciful was also presented.
This gala also offered guests the opportunity to learn more about the activities of the KMFAP in Benin and around the world through video projections.

Dear Eminent Grand Prior of Benin, Sir Florentin,
